Who we are

Donegal Giving is a not-for-profit initiative based in County Donegal. We are responsible for the personal information collected through donegalgiving.com.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the website, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, location, organisation, role, website or social media details, and the information you include in an enquiry, application, project proposal, or story submission. Story and Friend submissions may also include documents and photographs you choose to upload.

When you join our newsletter, we collect your name and email address. We do not sell your personal information.

How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and project proposals
  • To review and administer Friend applications and story submissions
  • To contact you about content you have submitted
  • To send Donegal Giving news and opportunities when you subscribe
  • To operate, protect, and improve the website

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in each email. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us.

Service providers

We use trusted providers only where needed to run the website and its services:

  • Basin processes website forms and uploaded files
  • MailerLite manages newsletter subscriptions and emails
  • Umami provides privacy-focused website analytics
  • Google Analytics provides optional website analytics when you consent
  • CloudCannon hosts and delivers the website

These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms. We share only the information needed for the relevant service, unless we are required to disclose it by law.

Analytics and browser storage

We use a self-hosted version of Umami to understand anonymous website activity, such as page visits, referring pages, browser and device type, and approximate country. Umami’s standard tracking does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information.

If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics uses cookies to collect website usage information such as pages visited, browser and device type, and approximate location. Google Analytics does not load before you consent.

The website uses browser storage to remember your analytics choice, limit the newsletter prompt to once every 30 days, and stop showing it after you subscribe. Use the “Cookie settings” button at any time to change your analytics choice.

Embedded content

We may include videos or social media posts from platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram. Those services may collect information when you view or interact with their content and are governed by their own privacy policies.

How long we keep information

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or the mailing list is closed. Enquiries, applications, and submissions are kept only for as long as needed to respond, administer the relevant activity, maintain appropriate records, and meet any legal obligations. We delete information when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your personal information, request that it be corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, or request a portable copy where applicable. You can also withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise your rights, email donegalgiving@gmail.com. You also have the right to raise a concern with Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our practices or services change. Last updated: 3 September 2026.
