Donegal Giving The Story So Far

A growing movement celebrating kindness, community, and connection in Donegal

Donegal Giving launched last week in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, where almost 300 people gathered to support this new community initiative. This amazing attendance showed just how strongly the people of Donegal value kindness, connection, and positive community action.

As a team we always believed in the idea behind Donegal Giving. We knew that Donegal was already full of people quietly giving their time, skills, wisdom, opportunities, and support to others. The launch simply brought this spirit of giving into the spotlight and celebrated what is already happening every day in homes and communities across the county.

Donegal already leads in kindness and community giving

Across Donegal we see people volunteering, mentoring, helping neighbours, supporting local organisations, and taking part in community life. Donegal Giving was created to highlight these acts of kindness and encourage even more community involvement and connection.

Since the launch, people from all over Donegal and beyond have contacted us with stories, suggestions, and ideas based on the giving principles we promote. One special moment for us was a letter from a man in Scotland who shared how the Donegal Giving message inspired him to reflect on his own acts of kindness, including £30 to use in helping Donegal Giving grow. This shows how the Donegal Diaspora remains deeply connected and continues to carry Donegal values with them always.

Our website has already attracted visitors from many countries, proving that the message of Donegal community spirit and kindness travels far beyond Ireland.

Local media and national recognition

We are grateful for the incredible support from local ,their coverage helped spread the message of Donegal Giving throughout the county.

Today marks another milestone. Donegal Giving appears in a national Irish Independent article written by journalist Kathy Donaghy. The article highlights empathy, community spirit, and the importance of giving in Irish life. To be mentioned alongside Sr Stanislaus Kennedy, whose life has been dedicated to helping others, is a huge honour for our young non profit.

This national recognition shows that Donegal Giving has the potential to grow, inspire, and connect people at home and abroad.
