Footprints of Giving 2026 and a New Environmental Partner

There is a lot happening at Donegal Giving.

What began with a simple idea, to recognise, celebrate and encourage the many ways people give, has continued to grow. Over the past year we have brought people together, worked with young people and educators, developed new partnerships, commissioned research with ATU and started conversations across Donegal about something that has always been part of who we are.

Giving.

Not only giving money, but giving our time, talent, wisdom, kindness, knowledge and opportunities. Giving to ourselves, our communities, our environment and the generations coming behind us.

And on Thursday, 12th November 2026, we bring that conversation together again at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, for our next county-wide event.

This year’s theme asks two very simple questions:

Who helped shape you?

And who are you shaping?

We all leave footprints in other people’s lives, often without ever realising it. A teacher who encouraged us. A neighbour who helped. A business that opened a door. Someone who shared their experience, made an introduction, gave us their time or simply believed in us when we needed it.

Footprints of Giving is about recognising those moments and asking what footprint each of us can leave behind.

The event will bring together people from business, community, education, health, the voluntary sector and across Donegal, with speakers, personal stories, panel discussions and plenty of opportunities to meet and connect with others.

We will also launch something very special on the day, our new Footprints of Giving Journal, which takes the idea beyond the event and gives people a chance to explore their own story of giving, gratitude, influence and legacy.

The event is free to attend, but places are limited, so early booking is strongly encouraged.

Welcoming Efficient Renewables as Our Environmental Partner

As Donegal Giving grows, we also want to work with organisations that see giving as something bigger than sponsorship.

We are delighted to welcome Efficient Renewables as the new Environmental Partner of Donegal Giving.

It is a partnership that gives us an opportunity to open up another important part of the giving conversation: giving to our environment and thinking about the legacy we leave for future generations.

Efficient Renewables works with homes and businesses across the renewable energy sector, including solar PV, battery storage and energy solutions.

But our partnership is about more than technology.

It is about exploring how businesses can use their knowledge, resources and connections to contribute positively to the communities around them. It is also about conversations around healthy homes, energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental responsibility and creating a better future for the people who come after us.

Efficient Renewables will join us at Footprints of Giving on 12th November, where CEO Christy Lynch will have an opportunity to share more about the partnership and why the company wanted to become involved.

Their presence will also be used to help open doors to community conversations and connections, something we hope to build on well beyond November.

Donegal Giving Is Growing

This partnership is another important step in what has been a very busy first year for Donegal Giving.

Since our launch in November 2025, we have brought hundreds of people together, delivered our first Transition Year pilot programme, worked with students and young people, collaborated with businesses, community organisations and educators, commissioned research with ATU and received recognition at the Donegal Volunteer Awards.

Donegal Giving is now a Company Limited by Guarantee, giving us a structure from which to continue developing the initiative and reinvest in its social purpose.

But the heart of it hasn’t changed.

We want people to start recognising the value of what they already have to give.

  • Your experience has value.
  • Your time has value.
  • Your connections have value.
  • Your knowledge has value.
  • Your encouragement has value.

Sometimes the smallest thing we give creates a footprint much bigger than we ever get to see.

Join Us on 12th November

Whether you are coming from business, education, community, the public sector or simply coming as an individual who is curious about the idea, Footprints of Giving is for you.

Come and hear the stories. Meet the people. Have the conversations. Think about the people who have shaped your life and perhaps leave with a few ideas about whose life you might help shape next.
